Howler Readers

Product Information

A howler monkey is one of the fiercest beasts in the jungle. And these sunglasses are worthy of the same name. The retro design of these pliable, TR-90 nylon frames take a nod from our classic Deep Blue frame but have a thicker temple for more peripheral protection.

C-MATES Sunglass Readers: News worth reading about sunglass readers: the lenses that help you see the small stuff- from tying a fly to reading a map- will no longer have a visible line around the front of the bifocal area. You can also now get them in the superior 580 technology you've come to expect from Costa sunglasses. Many new styles are available for 2015, and we've added a third power range of +2.00 that fits in nicely between the +1.50 and the +2.50.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Built-in READERS? WOW!!!!! I bought these new Howlers with built in Readers last month and all I can day is WOW. This is my 4th pair of Costas and I can tell you from an Outdoors-man standpoint, they have raised the bar! No more switching from readers to sunglasses....I can read my watch, iPhone, and anything else now without fumbling for my prescription glasses. Best pair of glasses for all types of outdoor activities. I have a pair of  frame less Costas I use for golf (I dont see them on the site anymore) and 3 other pairs for fishing, running, and just hanging out by the pool or riding golf carts with family and friends

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Readers! So I admit I'm getting older, and I just can't see the hook eye when I'm tying on lures anymore. And I feel silly balancing a set of readers on my nose alongside my sunglasses. At the drugstore, I saw some cheap sunglasses with built in bifocal readers, but I live in AZ, the sun is intense, my rule is never skimp on eye protection. But it got me thinking.... So I checked out Costa online, and much to my surprise, they offer, what is already the best polarized sunglasses on the market, in bifocal styles. So I ordered direct online, got my package when promised, and they are PERFECT! Thanks Costa, for building a quality product. By the way, I bought them for fishing, but now they're my daily driving glasses too. I can read the dashboard now, too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Howler C-Mate 2.50 I like the glasses but not as much as my old pair. I hope you can repair them soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best sunglasses I have owned. Brilliant move to combine readers and great quality sun glasses. Can read a text or tie a knot without missing a beat or taking off the glasses. Great quality and durable enough to take the year round beating that accompanies fishing in Florida.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New C-mate Really happy with my new C-mates. This is my fourth pair of Costa C-mates and this one is the best yet with a very sturdy looking frame and blue mirror lens. I love that the Costa lens clarity combined with their polarized lens really helps sight fishing in even the brightest sun. Best polarized sunglasses by far for, off shore and in shore fishing. C-mate lens allows even senior fisherman to see both the fishfinder and fish with equal clarity. Glad Costa now has C-mates in the Blue Mirror lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for dads I bought this around Christmas time and I was worried that the frames would be too large because my dad's baseball caps are sometimes youth size, but the width was not a problem. He is very happy with the augmentation and likes this version of the sunglasses better than the old version when only 1.5 and 2.0 was offered. Also, I highly recommend this product if you are a person who easily scratches their sunglasses because my dad puts them through the ringer and they have no scratches.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bifocals are too low Sunglasses are great but the bifocals on the readers are too low to use properly

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great optics; not a good fit (for me) I bought these for whitewater canoeing. As soon as I tried them on I realized they fit too close to my face and would fog up quickly in cold weather. I also found the near vision section of the lens was set too low. Based on reviews others like the fit and placement of the near vision lens. It's just not right for me. I've used another pair of Costas for years and have been very happy with them (they're in for repair now), so I'm sold on the brand.
