The HINANO Story

Named after the flower that decorates French Polynesia, the pandanus, these Costa Hinano sunglasses are made for Voyagers with the adventurous soul. 100% polarized, outfitted with high-grip temple tips and soft nose pads, these Costa men’s Voyager sunglasses are created for those whose chart their way forward by going into the unknown.

Additional Information

HINANO is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 57.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sick frame Honestly it hurt me but I had to return these. The teak frame with green lenses were my favorite pair of sunglasses I ever purchased. The frame was just too small unfortunately. I wear a dive 7 1/8 hat so have a very average sized head but these were just too small. I still wanted to keep them but 5/6 people said they just looked too small. If they made them with a slightly larger frame it would have been my last pair of sunglasses. I got the pawleys with teak and they are cool but I'd rather have these. Oh well hopefully they will make these in at least a medium frame if not large in the future. If so I will order again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality You'd Expect From Costa! This is the first pair of sunglasses I have ever bought, I have never found sunglasses that I have liked and that have fit my "small" face type. After getting refractive surgery and the optometrist mentioning that I have sun damage on my eyes, I knew I needed to find some protection. I was recommended Costa from some fishing buddies and found that the Hinano sunglasses fit so well. Amazing craftsmanship and look great!

When will you be offering more options for smaller frame faces?  I have always used the Maya frame and was disappointed to find out that it has been discontinued.  The Hinano frame just doesn't seem to have the wraparound feel that I desire when fishing.

The lense options lists copper silver mirror as an option. Is that on par with the sunrise silver mirror for low light conditions? And if not, can you custom fit the Hinano style with the sunrise silver mirror lenses?

Asked by: CottonKing
Hi! The sunrise silver mirror lenses are best for low light conditions and have 30% light transmission. The copper silver mirror lenses block out more light with 12% light transmission. The Hinano frame does not currently come with sunrise silver mirror lenses. When shopping on the website, you can filter frames by lens color to see what frames are made with the sunrise silver mirror lens. Lens colors are available under the description tab of each frame.

I love the look of these with the plastic frames but was looking at Costa for fishing to see through the water. Are these ones (made for voyage) different in lens or anything else from the angler series?

Asked by: aidan917
Hi there! All of our lenses will allow you to see clearly, no matter which frame you have. However, the Hinano frames are not considered angler frames. Check out our Costa angler frames!
